Westurn is a family team; Heather, Helen & Rene Stathy.  We are located in Canning Vale, Western Australia on our own beautiful acre of what we call paradise! (approximately 1/2 hour South of Perth City).

Our family has been actively involved with dogs for over 25 years and  "Westurn" began when our first Border Collie blasted into our lives in 1990 and joined our 8 year old Chihuahua!  That Border Collie was Jenna (Ch. Borderfame Hightime CD) ... it was "high-time" we got our first "real" dog!  Our first love is the border collie, however some of our family are other breeds.

Our dogs are first and foremost part of our family and they are with us in (almost) everything we do.

Early years saw us 'learn the ropes' of the great show world, firstly through exhibiting Chihuahua's and later with Border Collies, creating many memorable and worthy experiences for us throughout Australia.

In 1996 we veered from the show ring to explore the depths of canine performance sports ... dedicated to positive training methods, it is truly a unique and priceless journey with each and every dog! 

Agility is one of the most challenging and rewarding sports I have ever been involved in, and is my first passion!  We also regularly compete in Obedience and have recently become interested in herding, a completely new field of training for us.

Today we are proud to be campaigning our own breeding in the conformation ring and, although breeding sparingly, we are always aiming towards improving the Border Collie breed.  Rene is also currently studying for her Group 5 (Working Dog) Conformation Judge's License.

All of our 'kids' have their favourite activity, whether it be confirmation showing, agility, jumping, obedience or herding, and they all participate in at least one of these, if not all ... unless they are retired of course, then they are simply enjoying the comforts of home!
